Someone who is trained and or experienced in providing care during the first days and weeks after childbirth. A doula teaches parents how to care for their baby, interpret newborn cues and how to trust their parental instincts in responding to their baby's needs. The doula's goals are focused on supporting the mother in her goals and meeting her needs until she is feeling comfortable on her own.
My philosophy:
Bringing home a new baby is a very special experience for families. My role as a postpartum doula is to help the family ease through the adjustments and changes a new baby brings by emotionally and physically supporting the family during the postpartum period. I will listen to your needs and concerns patiently and without judgement and also support whatever parenting style suits your family best. Every newborn is unique and I adjust my services to meet the particular needs of each family.
